The placename Arymnion, referring to a mountain somewhere in Achaea, is attested only in a single scholiast to Homer and cannot now be located (“πρὸς τῷ Ἀρυμνίῳ λεγομένῳ ὄρει τῆς Ἀχαΐας,” Scholia In Homerum, Scholia in Odysseam (scholia vetera) 13.96.9). It was omitted from the Barrington Atlas and should be added to the appropriate Unlocated Toponyms list in the Map-by-Map Directory for “Map 58:Peloponnesus.”
Add an entry for Arymnion M. to the Unlocated Toponyms listing on p. 893 of the Map-by-Map Directory as follows:
|Arne||Arcadia: spring near Mantineia||Paus. 8.8.1|
|Asai||C||Corinthia: village||StByz ’Ασαί (Theopompos)|
Please note that our update entries follow the conventions of the Barrington Atlas in the formatting of placenames; i.e., modern placenames are presented in italics, ancient placenames in regular type.
