Description
This map depicts the landscape of the Iberian Peninsula, carrying the European/Mediterranean coastline as far east as the mouth of the Rhone and the site of ancient Massilia (mod. Marseille). The Straits of Gibraltar appear, as do the Balearic Islands. The map also portrays select sites relating to the history of Rome. This map was prepared to accompany the book The Romans from Village to Empire by Mary T. Boatwright, Daniel Gargola and Richard J.A. Talbert, Oxford University Press, 2004, where it appears as Map 4.4.
